Haha, I'm always insane, what am I talking about?

School is kinda hell now. Resolved my problem with my English class dropping itself, did not resolve the missing homeworks yet because I'm so bad with procrastination. Plus it doesn't help when your dumb American History class shits a thousand pounds of work on you for the next few weeks.

So tonight (a.k.a. this morning) I unwound with some Perfect World, chatted it up with the guild, hung around with the boy a bit, and told schoolwork to fuck itself for a while till my headache went away and I got at least a few minutes of sleep. I wasn't feeling well today, which accounts for some of my laziness, but heck, we have a HUGE group project I should be working on for this History class on the Jefferson vs. Hamilton jazz...I need to get my time management in check.

College isn't really that hard. I need to buck up and do shit. Either that or college will turn around and bite me in the ass.

I was going through names for a fox and I suddenly hit the magical bank of random Redwall names in my brain...and one of the Arctic foxes in the book Rakkety Tam was named Shard. As I hadn't heard of anyone's actual fursona being named Shard before I took it. I bet there are more Shards out there, though.

3 | What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?

Grey fox/Red fox hybrid, because when I chose his colors and markings thats what he looked like :3

He's a deep, almost slate-ish grey, with rust red paws (and ear and tal and muzzle stripes), and tawny/orange ear tips, hair, and ear/muzzle/tail stripes

5 | What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?

Shard is almost exactly like me personalitywise....but he's more outgoing than I am when it comes to the boys :P

My choker that I wear all the time....it looks like a collar. You'll see him wearing it every so often. :3

He has just a bit personality wise. I originally made him to be shy rather than outgoing, and his physical appearance has recently changed to the lightest color on his tail being the tawny tip.

Yeaaah, not much going on right now.

Kinda boring around Cabrini...classes and stuff.

Havertown Day will have a panda in the parade this year...oh lawd. Jerome would go but he HAS NO HEAD.

I don't know how to judge which fursuit builders are reliable and which ones aren't! I had a problem with this before as most of you know and I'm actually already fed up with this. I could see if I had ordered fursuit parts from LatinVixen or similar builders, but when I ordered just a foam head base nearly three months ago from someone (no experience in sculpting here), I was told it would take only 5 days to a week to complete and send out. The builder had problems with being caught up in work and I understood but hell...after how many e-mails saying she was sending it, I haven't recieved anything.

I'm getting my money back with it since it took so long, and a free tail, but now I'm thinking this is just way too long. I haven't emailed her yet but I'm pretty sure if I dont get either the materials and the money or just the money back (if shes not done), imma go apeshit cos this will be the second time I've failed at finding a reliable person to work with regarding fursuits.

Why do I have these problems?

I think it's because I'm waaaaaaaaay too nice. I need to be more of a bitch, don't I? Not harass but be just slightly pushy. I'm just a pussy when it comes to shit, and if people say they're doing something I believe them (well most of the time).

Ugh. To wait for the shit or not to wait for it? I'd love to have him for Zenkaicon which is october 17th-19th but I'm pretty sure it wont get here.

Boredom-induced weekend post

Seriously, really good weekend.

Friday was epic. Woke up, went to classes, and went back for a nap. Met a friend outside of Jazzman's a bit later and we went back to the room and hung around for a while, stupid shenanigans ensued, et cetera. We drove out to Wawa and got everyone food and drink, then came back and watched The Dark Knight on the laptop. Watched another odd movie then we had a big man sleepover. Shannon had her boyfriend Tony and my friend and I squeezed into the bunk. Holy shit we almost got in huge trouble because god forbid boys were in our room! *gasp* We're just SO horrible! We actually went to sleep at a reasonable time, too, 11pm.

The Dark Knight was an amazing movie. Heath Ledger really went all out for his role as the Joker. It was great to see such a change in an actor! Almost refreshing. It's too bad he died. Now that I think about it, though, I don't get all the hype over the movie. I mean, it was a darn good film, but I know people that went to see it 4 or 5 times. Waste of money, really. It didn't have the luster people gave it when they described it to me. I guess it's because I was really unaffected by Heath Ledger dying. No one can say that his death had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the success of the movie. If he hadn't died, I bet the movie wouldn't have been as popular. I know it's a bit mean of me to say that, but seriously, guys...it wasn't the god of all movies to me. And I've been a fan of Batman ever since I was little. My godfather would give me the comic books all the time, and the movies always fascinated me. I had a Sega game of it, too, and it was one of my favorite games. Oh, wow, good times.

Alright, that was a ramble. I went home Saturday around 11:30 and got a shower. Lounged for a bit, then my sis drove me to Suburban Square where she and I got lunch at Ruby's, then we shopped around for a bit at Free People and various stores, then I dragged her over to the furry party. Sadly, I couldn't stay long. But I got to meet up with giza, Uncle Kage, Finnish Fox, Kiric and Turtyl before I had to go drop my sis back off at home, then take my brother to work with my aunt out ot the country club. I was glad to finally meet some local furs! Everyone seemed really nice :3

Came home and lounged some more. Went out to Sampan with the 'rents, and Sauce (friendly waiter boy) was confused since I wasn't with my friends Maeve and Teresa. He did a triple take. It was funny. I eye-flirted for a while but he works in the upstairs section now so that was hard. He smiles every time. What a butt. Ordered some Tan Zaru Udon (cold udon, topped with shredded carrots, with wasabi and cucumbers on the side) since I was hankering for the delicious thick slimy noodles (OH YEAH). And it came with shrimp tempura, a nice surprise. Sadly, Sampan's short Chinese chopsticks didn't cut it with the udon...I had to cut the noodles up because I couldn't get a high enough grip on the chopsticks so I could grab them. Japanese food with short chopsticks...not a good idea. My carpal tunnel-type-jazz actually started acting up because Udon noodles are heavy...and those chopsticks were flimsy as shit.

Today was uneventful but I'll tell you the whole boring shebang anyway since I'm on a roll. Woke up this morning and I was determined to get up right then and there...and then I fell asleep again and woke up a lot later. I hate when that happens but it felt really good to sleep more. Read my YENplus a bit, squealed at the announcement about the Maximum Ride movie, finished the latest Loveless book (volume 8), and started Eldest for the second time. Afterwards I was thoroughly bored so I broke out the sewing machine and continued with my jumpsuit. Of course, halfway through the last piece of the final sleeve, my last heavy duty needle just HAS to break, so I had to handsew the rest of that piece and I couldn't sew the jumpsuit front and back together. Annoying. I installed the zipper by hand, too, and it would have been completely finished and ready for fitting. Ugh.

And now, I'm back at college. I have 8:15 classes tomorrow morning, so I will bid you all a good night!

Damn, my Chinese Film and Culture class doesn't have enough applicants and they might cancel the whole thing. Which means I have nothing to do Saturdays now! Ugh! Double UGH. Ah whatevs I guess I'll hang with mah peeps.....if any are home....

Fail. Epic fail. After my friend Nick visits the college Saturday morning I'll head home to work on my fursuit or somethin.

Lol covered in fur lol. Shortpile white fur is a bitch and a half to get off of dark clothes.

I have my puppy ears and tail at school. Brought them here after going home to get clothes I forgot muahaha. Theyre stuffed in my Stitch wall hangy thing....I'm thinking of wearing them to lectures to piss people off because it would make things so much more interesting around here.

Any furs go to Cabrini? I'm so alone here XD

Lol I've never watched X-Files.

I have, in fact, experienced paranormal activity.

My first experience was when my grandmother died. It was before anyone in my family knew---about 1am that morning. In our upstairs hallway in the house, there is a hall closet door that was closed before I went to sleep. My dad always made sure of this because he's OCD (lol).

Anywho, at around 1 in the morning, I woke up and heard footsteps in the hall. I got up to check if my brother was up, and alas, no one was in the hallway. I attributed it to the next door neighbors (it is a twin house, after all), and laid back in my bed. As a note, the closet door was not open when I looked down the hall.

A few minutes later, I heard the unmistakable creak of the hall closet door as it opened, an a huge slam as it shut. Again, I checked down the hall and no one was there. I was so creeped out I didn't sleep for the rest of the night. At around 5 that morning, though, we got a call on the house phone from my grandfather--my grandma had died between 1 and 2 in the morning.

Another time (more recently) I was in Gettysburg visiting the college and since it was far enough away, my mom and I stayed at a little hotel. I'd never experienced anything in Gettysburg despite all of my interest in the area's haunts, and I really wasn't expecting our hotel to be haunted. In fact, our hotel happened to be built on top of a Union hospital and base camp, which made it all the more creepy.

My mom and I both woke up around 3 in the morning, hearing footsteps in the room above us. We did the obvious and blew it off as the people being really loud upstairs. About an hour or so later, we woke up again, hearing the same footsteps and all of a sudden, we heard trumpets and drums, sounding Reville. There were no reenactments in the area, and it was loud, like it was close to the room. We checked outside and even walked upstairs and there was no one out at that time.

Weiiird.

I am going to Japan next summer through my high school.

It's only a bit over a week, but it's a good deal money-wise, and I know the teacher who's throwing this shebang really well. She told us alumni and students alike are welcome to come.

For a bit over a week, it's $3000 for the entire trip--Airfare, hotels/ryokans, meals, and travel in Japan. I don't know if we're just exploring or going and having tours...but for that price, there's no way I'm missing out.

And, as a note for future reference, I may be doing commisions starting...uh, soon. I'd probably do oekaki icon commissions (where you get the 300 x 300 picture and the 100 x 100 icon), starting at $5 for stuff like my current Shard icon, and for complex backgrounds and characters I'll put it up to $8 (I put at least 2-3 good hours into each one), and it will all go into my funding for Japan.

Since I'm at college and I don't even have a mailbox yet, I'm not even sure of how to do conbadges. I'll wait until I have more examples, and until I'm home for breaks. Everyone will be notified a week before I get home, and I will be taking 5-10 commissions for conbadges and icons. I'd probably do $5-10 for conbadges based on my current skill level. They would be laminated and punched. Sadly, I don't have lanyards to go with them, but if I find them, the badges would only be $1-2 more.

Examples of my work below. i can do pretty much anything canine/feline/equine and I've recently been doing great at dragons and other reptiles (pics after class today). Really odd creatures are great, and anything mythical goes. I just draw canids a lot. XD

Uh. Yeah.

My aunt's sewing machine is going berserk or something.

I threaded everything just right. When I sew, though, the lower part of the stitching is clumpy. On top of that, the machine makes a clunking noise. I think the bobbin keeps tangling up, but I can't be sure. It's threaded right. I went slow so I could pull the fur through (the old foot screw is stuck so I can't loosen it)

The model is a Singer Zig-Zag 457 model.......a bit old but my aunt has never had any problems with it.

Does anyone possibly know what could be going on?

I have less than 24 hours to do this...I might have to scrap it and move on to hand sewing all night again. Help would be greatly appreciated....I kind of need to sleep. Past two nights have been no sleepy for me D:

Tonight is the night I finish Jerome's jumpsuit. I hope. Especially since I've been getting really distracted today. I'm handsewing the whole thing, and I know it's going to take LOOOONG. Even with my dad itching to help sew the pieces of the saddle together. After sewing it, I have to see if the digigrade fits under it. I don't really know if the padding is small enough, but there's plenty of room to hitch the legs up since my legs are short and the jumpsuit legs are massively long.

It fits otherwise. I'm just a shorty.

Jerome's coming along. I just finished the entire modified pattern, and I should be done sewing the whole jumpsuit by the end of this weekend providing I can get my supplies (crapfur from Jo-Ann's for temporary paws and all of my sewing machine and crafty needs), the sewing machine from my aunt (my friend's is broken, she can't help), and someone to translate this shit from the jumpsuit pattern (see my post on the fursuit community's page).

I'm pretty happy about it right now.

The only thing that's worrying me is that I have seriously minimal fur. Meaning once I get the head base (hopefully next week), I'm working with a bit less than half a yard of white fur and scraps, and less than a 1/4 yard of black fur with scraps. The dye I have dries verrrrrry slowly, too, even when I add water (it needs to be added, though, since the dye is so thick). I'm dyeing the whole face apart from the lips. My neckfur is going to be patched together from little scraps, and I'm going to have to buy a white turtleneck shirt somewhere and cut off the sleeves, because the jumpsuit has NO collar, and just having neckfur doesn't guarantee a thing. I hope the seams aren't too bad. I'm actually going to go to the pet store to buy a wire brush so I can get the pile out of the freakin' seams on the neckfur.

Gawd.

To beat the heat, I've placed on my "to buy" list quite a few little things (Dollar store trip, anyone? :D): 1. a water bottle with a long straw, 2. a mini battery-operated fan, 3. bottles of gatorade and water to drink the Thursday before suiting, 4. handkerchiefs for my backpack and for tying back my hair, and 5. snackies to keep my energy up beforehand so i'm not cranky when i start to overheat.

I can't wait. 10 days til I leave and counting doowwwwn WOOHOO

My alternative to Abe. No one sold or can make anything like his mask, and I can see why since it's basically a latex mask applied directly to the actor's face and touched up professionally. Which means it's on to the first alternative for my Hellboy cosplay choices...

I want to make a Kroenen costume for cons. YES, I want to be a creepy masochistic clockwork ninja. I'd wear a full, tight-fitting jumpsuit of black spandex, generic black or gold armor, strappy combat boots, a black thigie hat (if you've seen the first Hellboy, the one he wears at the beginning), and a black trenchcoat. I can easily acquire these.

However, that mask is obnoxiously priced. That's basically my normal budget for TWO costumes with accessories...which means I have yet another price hurdle to overcome. So, if you know anyone who could make the mask out of cheaper materials, please HALP. I have concept pics and photos.

Yeah, so I just started watching Onmyou Taisenki. I actually was looking for songs by FAKE?, a J-rock group, when this anime's theme song popped up. Being a huge furry, I saw Byakko no Kogenta (image above) in the first episode and thought he was hot shit XD

So, naturally, now I really want to cosplay him. It would be easy to get materials for him. The only thing is, I loathe body paint of any kind, so I'd have to get a white spandex jumpsuit for him.

Things I am fine with making are: hand/feetpaws, pants, tail, bell, leg bracers, sandals, gloves (maybe), shirt.

There are still several problems I am trying to solve with this cosplay...

1. Now, being a tiger, Kogenta has stripes. I know dye would bleed if I tried to dye them on, sharpie would smudge over time, and I'm putting every ounce of sewing prowess I have into Jerome, so as you can see, there's a bit of a snag there. Anyone know of any magical dye that won't bleed? Or should I find someone to do an airbrush job?

2. His build is humanoid, but there are several places that need padding. I'm fine with doing abs-his are pretty simply shaped. But with carved upholstery foam under his arms for more build, he would look lumpy. Should I leave the arm/leg padding out?

3. You can see there are tufts of fur on his ankles and elbows. I can easily sew a little patch of longpile fur, but what's the best way to keep it spiked up? Is there a glue or a hairgel that works?

4. Someone name the best face paint you've ever used. Srsly.

oh and i'm modifying the whole damn jumpsuit pattern for this suit so it better look damn fine for a first fursuit. if it doesn't (i'm really picky with fursuits), i won't wear it until i get it perfect. for serious. the modifications i have to do are pretty big for someone who has minimal experience in sewing-put that darn saddle on, actually make new legs for the jumpsuit since the legs and the torso on the pattern are all one piece, make it shaped to the digigrade..........FUCK

I just realized

I wrote a whole entry about that Kung Fu Panda adventure how many freakin' weeks ago and never posted it because my computer crapped out just as I finished.

WELL TO SUM IT UP IT WAS AWESOME. I took my fursuit, shoved it in the white turd, got the friends after a looong day of senior shit and we drove to Narberth and parked at Maido. I got in the fursuit amid some stares from children and other random people as I couldn't avoid changing outside. The only place nearby with a bathroom was a pub, and it was really smoky in there.

Whatevs. Once I was in, we walked to the theatre. It was so humid, but I was glad for a breeze since the only ventilation in the panda is through the mesh of his eyes. Met one little kid along the way, so I did the whole getting down to her level/crouching and presenting myself as a friendly panda. She was really shy. It was funny.

We got to the theatre and were surprised to find that a large group of younger Narberth kids had followed us in. It was a bunch of really rowdy, crazy boys who tried to get me to talk in suit. I won and didn't "break the magic", but I did comply to a few crazy handshakes they tried to teach me. Quite humorous. We entertained the staff for a while, then we went to the waaaaaaay back of our theatre so I could dehead and unzip the jumpsuit for a while. No kids noticed me back there because it was already dark in the theatre, so I was grateful for the break.

Movie was great. go see it. Now.

Anyway, after the movie was over, I suited up again, and didn't get past the snack bar. Parents and kids were all over Genma. Mind you, this was my first time fursuiting around small children, so I was a bit nervous about how they'd recieve a panda in such a small theatre. I was actually relieved that I didn't scare any kids-Genma's expression isn't too angry, but it's not all the way friendly either. I guess since I acted and presented myself as friendly they took the hint. I posed for a few pictures, then my friends and I left.

As we walked back to the car, I had a problem when some skater kid gave Genma a pretty good smack upside the head for no good reason. It was too bad he didn't know that my head's built on a helmet :3 Win. We got caught by the husband of the owner of the Japanese store we parked by, Maido, and he invited us in so his wife could see Genma, and we talked for a whiiile about costuming (he had been suckered into a Hello Kitty costume by his wife), a cool costume parade, and his wife insisted that I take water, a fan, and popsicles with me XD Asian hospitality. It's great. I was so thankful to her-she's so nice, and I haven't gotten a chance to go back and invade the store and say hello.

So anyway. Awesome time. I'm trying to find out when I can do another fursuit outing, and when exactly I can organize that furmeet I wanted to organize. I want to give ample notice, so I'll check my crazyass college crap schedule to se what's going down. I'll post in a bit about that. We'd still probably gather at Market East.

My car just blew the fuck up

Well, cars don't really blow up. They catch fire. Like my little Volkswagon Jetta.

The car I've been using as of late, my grandmother's car, had a bit of smoke coming from under the hood. Within minutes, the hood bubbled up, turned yellow, and it burst into flames, melted the front bumper off, welded the hood to the front end, cracked the windshield and melted the mirrors, and blew the two front tires out. And did I mention that it melted the blacktop into little puddly patterns?

Holy SHIT.

The cops and the firemen said it was more than likely a freak electrical accident (spark hit a gas leak or someting, etc) and that it could happen to anyone. My mom was freaking out.

Less than fifteen minutes before, I had driven my sister to the gym. I asked my mom to pick her up and hour later because I was in the midst of college e-mails and more questionnaires. She ran back in and said the car was smoking....and it escalated from there.

Needless to say, the car is completely gone. As in, it's going to be crunched into a little square of scrap metal in a few days or so.

No one was actually in the car when it happened, but as my sis and I I had been driving it a short time before and my mom was about to get in it, it's freaky to think that any of us could have gotten hurt.

Gawd.

My life is really, really crazy right now, but that just took the crazycake.

I am working on a new team in Pokemon Diamond! Ones under high level fifties I am using my Lucky Egg to train (yay double the experience points!). My previous team included Luxray lv. 56, Lucario lv. 70, Skuntank lv. 53, Ariados lv. 66, Chatot lv. 57, and Blaziken lv. 54.

I am keeping Lucario and Blaziken in the team because they are my big attackers (with all attack moves). My new team will be big on attack and attack boost.

This team will consist of:
Albireo-Absol (currently lv. 18). Just hatched him from the egg bred by a ditto and my female Absol Wind, and I want to put some kickass moves on this sucker since his attack stat is amazing. I tried to breed a Super Luck Absol, but that took too long. He will be holding the Life Orb, which boosts his 130 stat by 30%, and I'm planning to get Swords Dance in there and mix some good attack moves around.

Lucario (lv. 77) My big gun, with Dragon Pulse, Extremespeed, Flash Cannon, and Aura Sphere. I've bred him and I plan to put a new moveset on his lil prodigy. His defense is decent, and with his Fighting/Steel mix I don't have to worry about too much-just Ground/Fighting/Fire types.

Hinote-Blaziken (lv.61) Another big gun, all attack moves. He can take out any opponent mildly quickly, as he has a nice mix of high-power attack moves. The moveset consists of Slash, Sky Uppercut, Blaze Kick, and Blast Burn.

Salamence (currently lv.50) I don't know what to do with this one. It's too cliche of a choice of Pokemon for a team...plus, he levels up so slowly, even with the Lucky Egg. I was trying to get a decent balance in with the types I'm using, but Salamence ain't cutting it. His moveset isn't at all pretty-Crunch, Zen Headbutt, Dragon Claw, and Fly (which I'm removing soon). I might just breed him out and form a whole new moveset.

Gah, I'm soooo tired D: Been in the car for 13 hours today.....must sleep......
